What is binning in the HD-336U camera?

Binning is an image processing function that combines a cluster of pixels into a single pixel and is used to increase brightness without amplifying noise under lower light level conditions. The HD-336U implements a 2×2 matrix binning whereby four pixels becomes one larger pixel. The result is a 4x increase in sensitivity with reduced spatial resolution.
